Guardian Life offers insurance plans for RMG workers via bKash

In an effort to provide ready-to-wear workers with insurance coverage, Guardian Life Insurance has launched specialist insurance schemes with health, savings and life cover facilities through bKash.

From now on, RMG workers can avail of two Guardian Life insurance schemes – ‘Guardian Astha’ and ‘Guardian Bondhu’ at stands set up on their factory premises, a press release reads.

The service was inaugurated recently at two factories – Turag Garments & Hosiery Mills Ltd and Masihata Sweaters Ltd in Gazipur recently.

Shamim Ahmed, COO of Guardian Life Insurance; Ali Ahmed, Chief Commercial Officer of bKash; Lieutenant-Colonel Khalique-Ul-Hassan (retired), Director of Turag Garments & Hosiery Mills Ltd; Feroz Kobir Prodhan, Managing Director (Administration, HR and Compliance) of Masihata Sweaters Ltd and other senior officials from the organizations were present at the events.

Workers at these factories can benefit from the five-year and ten-year “Guardian Astha” insurance scheme through a bKash account redeemable with interest. With the monthly premium of 500 Tk and 1000 Tk, one can get life cover ranging from 22,000 Taka to 1,06,000 Tk.
Also, workers can avail health coverage of Tk 50,000 for treatment by availing this insurance policy.

In addition, the one-year non-refundable “Guardian Bondhu” policy allows workers to secure lifetime coverage of Tk 25,000 with a premium of Tk 100. There is also a special opportunity to get health insurance coverage up to Tk 5,000 under this policy.

Workers will also be able to receive claims and reimbursements with their bKash account.

bKash also offers its digital payroll solution to facilitate automated, easy, fast and affordable payroll remittance. As part of this, bKash has set up a fair price store called “Sulov Bazar” on the factory premises where employees can get special discounts while purchasing their daily necessities through bKash payment.

In addition, the installation of vending machines for sanitary napkins for workers in the factory premises is also underway.
