Sussex Cricket are delighted to announce that Sussex-based car insurance company 1st Central have agreed to renew their major sponsorship deal with the club for a further three years.

The deal will see the ground continue to be called The 1st Central County Ground, Hove, which has been home to Sussex since the 19th century.

Over the past seven years Sussex Cricket and 1st Central have developed a major partnership which has helped to ensure that 1st Central County Ground remains a modern multi-purpose venue for professional cricket, music concerts, weddings and corporate events. company.

1st Central, headquartered in Haywards Heath, will now also diversify the partnership with its brand adorning the back of Sussex D40 (cricket team for the disabled) and visually impaired game shirts. The extended partnership also provides ongoing support for annual charity events such as the Sussex Cricket Foundation’s DISCoverABILITY Day.

Sussex Cricket Commercial Director Mark Judges said: “We are delighted to extend our partnership with 1st Central for another three years, meaning the ground will be known as The 1st Central County Ground, Hove for ten seasons!

“Working in partnership with a local Sussex business, as a major sponsor, is incredibly rewarding. During our partnership, we helped build awareness of the 1st Central brand, which helped their growth to over a million policyholders.

“In return, their investment helps us invest in the future of Sussex Cricket and our infrastructure. This means that generations to come will be able to enjoy the fantastic facilities and cricket showcased in the heart of our county, while maintaining the commercial integrity of the world’s oldest professional sports club.”

Speaking about the expansion, Ben Tomasetti, General Manager of 1st Central, said:I am proud that we can continue to support our community and now, through our work with D40 and visually impaired teams, cricket accessibility.

“The 1st Central County Ground remains a premier venue and we’re excited to take our place for at least three more years, excitedly watching all of the Club’s teams and some of the biggest artists from around the world!”

This major partnership is key to helping Sussex Cricket maintain its ambitions on and off the pitch for years to come, including plans to improve existing facilities on the pitch.

Over the past few seasons, the first phase of the ground’s redevelopment has seen the southwest corner of 1st Central County Ground undergo a major redevelopment, with the construction of a new pub, commercial offices and 37 apartments.

This phase of development will open at the end of the first quarter of 2023. The continued support that 1st Central is providing to the club will help ensure that phase two delivery plans can progress over the coming seasons, which will improve the County Ground hospitality and experience for local and national events.

In phase two, Sussex Cricket aims to improve hospitality facilities with renovations including the development of new private boxes and a roof terrace, creating the perfect environment for watching matches and celebrating the last victory of the Sussexes.
